Lunchtime Shopping and Shoe Horror

I needed a gold necklace to go with my black dress. I chose one, hurriedly. It’s going to get so tangled…

Here is is with its little knot over my waist belt. (Apologies for the odd proportions I was sitting down.)

With my straggly, was curly this morning, hair. Note, face down Domo burying his little brown face in my chest.

And oh! My gladiator sandals broke, the upper sole has almost completely come away from the bottom which results in flappy shoes that make me trip over.

I got these generic, cheap, Ugg boot rip offs. Comfy, simple and will no doubt break after a few walks to work…

The Weekend

Full of serious fail in the sense that I was working, busy, no time to eat healthily etc. There’s no excuse, I failed.

So, I’ve had multiple pizzas, burgers, sausage sandwiches, alcohol etc. I was afraid to weigh myself this morning so I’m going to wait until Thurs, then it will have been a week since my last weigh in. I feel I may have undone all thegood…

The weekend coming is going to be a manic one but I at least get some sembalance of rest. Friday night head to my Mum’s, drink and eat. Sleep. Sat, walk the dog early in the morn (might try some running on that beach, that’ll be interesting.) Try and fit in some yoga before a shower, then begin the preparations for the big, Western themed party.

Party will be full of meat, alcohol, sweets, crisps, nibbles etc.

Might ask for veggie options. Will that make it healthier?

Oh well.

Onwards we must go.

Reasons

#2 – Shopping

Okay I’m a size 16/18 not huge, really and some stores do stock my size. Or at least they say they do, Topshop goes up to a size 16 so theoretically I could buy dresses, tops and leggings from there. The only stuff they /actually/ do in my size is ridiculous clothes that someone who is a size 16 would never wear. I went there the other day with the resolve to buy some t-shirts, I knew they had size 16 in dresses and jeans so I’d be able to find a nice t-shirt and a cardigan.

Nope.

It’s never that simple. The cheap stuff doesn’t go up past size 14 (and they were hard to find.) There’s an abundance of size 8 and 10 but you struggle if it is above that.

Also when I do find clothes in my size they never fit. Take Next for example, I can find trousers in there in my size but they are always too short (I’m 5 foot 7 inches so not a giant) or bunch up around the crotch.

Then there is the plus size clothing places – 1 I don’t like shopping in there because I don’t like to admit my plus sizedness, the clothes are generally rubbish and they usually start at size 18. I’m not a size 18 in all my clothes, in fact only bottoms. So I couldn’t buy tops in there. 😦

50s style and party ideas!

Right, I have this beautiful dress, (over there on the right) I bought it almost a year ago for my Mum’s 50’s swing party. Then, although it fit, it was so hard to do up and very, very tight. I put it on the other day to see if it was suitable to wear to work and decided that I have lost some serious weight.

It’s easy to do up, still very tight but in a good way and it looks ten times more amazing than I ever could’ve imagine it would do. Next I shall be buying one of the halterneck pencil dresses (pictured below), maybe not quite yet but when I’ve lost a few more inches of my waist and hips! I’d like to fully endorse http://www.vivienofholloway.com to all of you that believe that 50s style is the way forward. I love it !

Every year my Mum has a wedding anniversary party, this will be the third year of her marriage and the theme is Cowboys and Indians. I’m obviously going as some sort of cow girl due to the large collection of cowboy boots that I own. I just need to work out what else I can wear to flatter my shape and make me look all yeehaw!

Hopefully by then I can wear a denim skirt and look good in it, pair it with some sort of checkered skirt and neck scarf and I’ll be in. Any excuse to wear my 1970’s vintage cowboy boots that I picked up in Camden for £25. Bargain.

Right, back to work, need to write more about fashion and beauty than myself. Will weigh and measure myself tonight. I don’t think I’ve lost anything. Although I went to see my grandparents at the weekend and both said that I looked as if I had lost weight. My Grandmas especially has always referred to my weight as if I’ve been some sort of 30st heiffer that couldn’t get out of bed. So if anyone is going to comment on ym weightloss truthfully then it is going to be her so I’m happy with that. At least I know that a change has been noticed.

My uncle and his girlfriend are getting married in Sept and oth have lost weight for the wedding, they look amazing! I’m proud of them, good effort. Hopefully I’ll need a new outfit by September because everything else will be too big!

New Outfit from ASOS.com

Okay so new outfit, in theory it looks amazing and the beautiful Ted Baker belt fits. However you will notice that my chest and hips are so much wider than my waist. In fact I have quite a skinny waist for someone of my size. Once i’ve lost weight I’ll be the perfect hourglass figure I hopes.
So the critique: beautiful items totally designed for a size eight. No worries, love the belt but side and tummy fat seems to over hang as well as making me look totally out of proportion. Skirt makes me look like I’m wearing a busstle, but then most dressed and skirts do. Leggings are beautiful, ring is great, top is alright not as nice as I’d thought it would be.

Now the more flattering angle, it pains me to put the other pic first because this picture is awesome. I am the queen of flattering angles (it’s an obsession, I’m a photographer and someone who loves taking photos of herself but get someone with a camera trying to take a photo of me on a night out and I cringe. Although I let them do it because it then gives me free reign to go around snapping photos of them.)

Anyway, the outfit looks good here so could I wear it on a night out, maybe with a light jacket, undone so it covers my arse (busstle) but shows off that kick arse belt.

The Look

Full yellow skirt – longer length from Asos.com

Double layer top from Asos.com

Ted Baker corset belt from Asos.com (I’d like to point out that it was £16 reduced from £60.)

Ring from Asos.com

Ruched leggings from Asos.com

Yellow Kurt Geiger pumps found on ebay for pennies! (Although may swap these for ridiculous high heeled platforms from Topshop to elongate myself and make me look taller than I am wide!)

Leopard scarf from Norwich Market.

I think maybe lose a stone and this will look better, get my waist a bit more toned so I don’t look weird. Probably the most successful whole outfit shop I’ve ever done online. Go me. Things are looking up.
